Customizable tool bar
It might be minor, but I wish I could customize the tool bar such that I could put frequently used things like specific color (black, red), scissor, eraser etc.. on the tool bar directly. Currently you have to click through buttons, and although it's only one or two clicks away, it does matter while you're trying to quickly annotate stuff

Until Google adds support for the side button in Chrome OS, this will be the best next thing - pick selection/lasso mode with one click and select between pens and highlighter of 3 colours.

I would also like to be able to decide the location of the toolbar. I think a side orientation would reduce make the buttons more accessible.

That's exactly what I need! I need to have my frequent colors on the tool bar directly.

I just posted the same idea. The original post was back in 2013!!!! C'mon folks, I can't see this being a difficult addition to the app. Seeing this makes me think I should explore other app options.
Hey Squid, should I?

This quick-bar should also pop up with one press of the S-Pen button and it should have the option to be round as well like the original S-Pen menu.

This and it would be cool to have a quick bar of different pens (set thickness you selected), highlighters, etc.
Or maybe the quick bar is preset options like
* Type (Pen, highlighter)
* Color
* Thickness
* (Opacity for highlighter)That way you can make a set of predefined pens or highlighters you most use.
I would enjoy the vertical bar of choices on the side that has a grip so you can move it around the page if needed. Also if it had a button to rotate it to a horizontal bar that would be great too.
I typically find myself using the same 5 presets in my notes, so this would help speed up my note taking.

Yes -- down the right side of the page would be my preferred position. Or, make it repositionable, like Lecturenotes. One tap to change tools! ...It's wearing my arm off how it is! :-(

I actually like papyrus, got all paid extensions. But changed to LectureNotes because of the lack of more useful buttons. I can hardly believe that it so difficult to program more useful buttons. I would pay for them....

Agreed! That's the only real issue with this app.

This would be so awesome. Quill and lecture notes already have user customizable mini menu for pen or other tools. I love Papyrus, and this feature would make it perfect.

I had this idea too, having all the tools on top is unpractical. A simple side bar that the user can choose to place on the left or right that can slide in and slide back out when the user no longer needs its functionality, would solve a few problems.
Even better if you could customise the content of the side bar. -

I agree! It is very necessary until the gestures of the S-button are able to be used.

Yes!!! Please, please add this! I'm begging you lol!
Seriously, IMO this would make Papyrus a powerful tool for anyone taking math/physics/etc... classes (that's quite a few people ;-) not just for taking notes in class, but to do homework. I've been looking all over for an app that would ease MANIPULATING equations. Papyrus is by far the best I've found, because of 1st the selection tool, 2nd the duplicate tool and the infinite sheets (and right now S-note and notibility's hand-writing to equation make pretty pictures, but then all you can do is stare at them; you can't delete or copy a piece of them and put it elsewhere). However. That it takes 4 taps (gulp!) to switch from the selection tool to the pen tool is quite annoying even for me (and will stop anyone attempting to do this with simpler equations than mine; most students have simpler equations ;-) . Adding a movable, preferably customizable, quick bar as Jonas suggests would remove that bottleneck.
With a (movable, preferably customizable) quick bar to switch between tools in 1 tap of the thumb or index of the hand not holding the stylus, one would work twice as fast at least (1 tap as in: no need to tap the screen to activate the tool). At least the following tools should be available to add to it: pen, selection, duplicate, copy to clipboard, paste from clipboard (which right now tends to disappear into the roll down menu at the top right...).
Same with colors (I'm into color coding too!), having the option to add a few (say, 3-4-5) colors of one's choosing directly into a customizable quick bar would be great - although being able to switch between tools in one tap is even more crucial IMO.
Preferably the quick bar shouldn't be too big though (the one is S-note is too big for instance), not thick, adjustable in length with the number of tools people add, with definitely an option to make it horizontal or vertical.
