How do I open directly to a new note?

On an Android device:

You can add a shortcut to your device's home screen that will create a new note in a specified notebook.

  1. Go to your home screen's list of app shortcuts. This is usually accessible by long pressing on an empty space on your home screen or pinching to zoom out on your home screen, then choosing either "shortcuts" or "widgets", but may be slightly different for your home screen app.
  2. Find the Squid shortcut titled Create Note, then long press on it and drop it at the desired location on your home screen.
  3. In the dialog that appears, choose the notebook you want to create notes in.
  4. Tap the shortcut icon whenever you want to open Squid directly to a new note in your selected notebook. FYI, you can repeat the above steps to create multiple shortcuts to different notebooks.

On a Chromebook device:

If your Chromebook supports an active stylus, first set Squid as your default note-taking app. Then tap the stylus icon next to the time to open the Stylus tools menu and choose Create note. This will create a new unfiled note in Squid using the default note background.
