For me, backup is completely and utterly broken. My last succesful run was last year. I've entered into email conversation with the development team who concluded that it was broken and there is no plan to fix it.

The people, who are having problems with this are the people who use it a lot.

We're the people who love it and advocate it. I've lost count of the people and organisations who use Papyrus because recommended it.

Please don't reward us by having paid-for services that don't work.

Lots of duplicated ideas in this space. It seems many people (including me) want incremental backup.

    Peter Brookes-Smith commented  ·

This is a really good idea. The Dropbox backup is taking longer and longer. Then it often fails right at the end because of the Dropbox huge file transfer. I haven't had a successful backup for more than 5 days. All the old stuff hasn't changed and the new stuff that is really important isn't backed up at all

For me, the workaround is straightforward. There are other things I need much more than this.

I see you've been merging ideas. There is consolidation of suggestions from people wanting to have folders with subfolders.

The tagging idea here (which I strongly support) is a slightly more sophisticated implementation of the same thing and you could almost certainly satisfy both requirements with one set of code changes. Please don't miss the opportunity!!

    Peter Brookes-Smith commented  ·

I see you merged suggestions. Please don't make the mistake of implementing only a simple folder solution. It would be such a lost opportunity. Tagging and the intelligent use of metadata will be much more sophisticated solution. Of course some people will want a simple solution and the use of folders implemented by metadata as a default makes a lot of sense. Let people add to that if they realise that the default is too simplistic

    Peter Brookes-Smith commented  ·

Rationalisation needed. This suggestion is repeated elsewhere.

It also has votes. Tagging and meta data with search might work better than folders.

    Peter Brookes-Smith commented  ·

    It's definitely a requirement.

Folders are a bit old fashioned and I think tagging and meta data will be a stronger solution.

Definitely agree that tagging of notes and subsequent filtering is needed for all serious users. I would definitely pay for this feature.

Someone suggested a 3 finger swipe for page turning.

Sounds like a good solution to me.

Please allow this as an option, not enforced behaviour. I'm completely happy with the way my writing appears and would prefer not to have some algorithm smooth it out. I use Galaxy Note 2014 and it's a perfect match for Papyrus

We currently support creating and restoring backups to/from Google Drive via the local backup settings: http://feedback.squidnotes.com/knowledgebase/articles/1185616

I understand that this does not meet everyone’s needs. Adding support for Google Drive to the automatic backup options is something we continue to investigate.

I recently wrote an open letter to Cloud Storage providers on this subject: https://medium.com/steadfast-innovation/open-letter-to-cloud-storage-apps-on-android-a2d0eb919fc4

Please encourage your favorite cloud storage provider (i.e. Google Drive) to fully support the Android Storage Access Framework (as stated in the above letter). This will not only help us to better support backup and restore to ANY cloud app, but will help the ecosystem as a whole.

It looks like there is a higher voted request to do the same thing. Probably better to put votes there. Search for Google Drive.

Thank you all for your wonderful feedback! I just wanted to set a few things straight.

First, in-app purchases are tied to your Google or Samsung account, depending on which store you downloaded Papyrus from. Purchases are automatically restored or enabled by Google Play or Samsung Apps on all devices you are signed into with that account. This means, if you get a new device, have multiple devices, or need to reinstall Papyrus, you only need to purchase the premium features once (as long as you use the same account). This is true for all applications in these stores (not just Papyrus) as it is handled by Google and Samsung. Please note, however, that it can sometimes take a little while for purchases to show up on other devices or after just installing Papyrus (usually it’s instant though).

Second, we’re always trying to figure out the best business model for…

    Peter Brookes-Smith commented  ·

Like others I find this app too valuable to risk it disappearing through lack of long term funding.

    Please keep in app purchases.

Alternatively, introduce subscription option. I used to get through at least one red and black notebook per month (about £5 each). I would happily pay £1 per month and get all the options for.
